Vegan MoFo Calls Again!

So it's the time of year again where bloggers everywhere spend a entire month blogging about VEGAN FOOD! Woohoo!

If you don't know about Vegan MoFo, it stands for Vegan a Month of Food, and bloggers are encouraged to spend the whole month blogging about vegan food. Lots of people get involved with some amazing ideas - check out a couple over on the Vegan MoFo website.

I love all the inventive blogs that pop up around this time; it's so much fun reading everyone's them. Somehow Vegan MoFo has crept up on me this year though and as such, I have no themes planned! So I guess that makes this year's theme 'Let's Wing It'. I do have lots of fun posts lined up for you though, so don't worry!

So I thought I'd start the month by showing you some of my fabulous vegan cookbooks.

You'll see the names Isa Chandra Moskowicz and Terry Hope Romero crop up a number of times... Yep, there's a bit of a cookbook addiction going on there. I'm pretty sure one day I will have every book either of them has released...

The very first vegan cookbook I got my hands on was Vegan Cooking For One by Leah Leneman. This book was just what I needed to help transition to a vegan diet, as it provided simple recipes to feed 1 (which you could obviously double, triple, etc if you wanted to feed others). The recipes contain a good balance of nutrients and you even get a shopping list each week in case you struggle to plan your meals. I still use recipes from this book!

Veganomicon tends to be my go-to cookbook for fancy meals - for example when we have Mr Hatter's grandma over for dinner.

Those top three little books are my sweet-tooth heaven (although I'm trying to be healthier and limit how often I use them at the moment!).

I must admit, I tend to read cookbooks cover to cover, make a few recipes, put them on the shelf and forget about them - not intentionally! (There are even a couple on there that I've not got around to reading yet...) There are so many lovely things in these books I want to make, I just sometimes find it hard fitting in trying a new recipe when I get home after work.

However, as part of Vegan MoFo I am going to try to cook at least one new recipe from my cookbooks each week. Let's see if I manage!

If you have anything you'd like to see on the blog this month please let me know and I'll see what I can do!
